Almost sold it
I got this 2011 MIM Special Edition Telecaster by trading in my Framus Diablo Pro. It came with a custom blue paint job, an anodized gold pickguard, hand-wound Nokkel pickups and a 3-saddle Wilkinson bridge.
I wanted to sell it to buy a guitar with a fixed bridge and two humbuckers. (It didn’t happen.) Then I realized: why sell it if I could just have it rebuilt?
Back to the wood
I took it to Róbert Erdős (“Robesz”) at Svajcsik Gitárműhely. He suggested removing the blue paint, which was not original anyway. I’m really glad I listened to him! The ash body looks so much better with its natural wood grain.
What else changed
- New pickups: a Tonerider Alnico 2 Plus set. My first impressions are very positive, they sound great both clean and distorted.
- A classic black pickguard.
- A 6-saddle bridge, so the intonation can be set properly for every string.
- A reversed control plate. It feels much more natural this way and volume swells are a lot easier (I love to use them, eg. in my Kiesel solo contest video). The switch touches the tone pot at the moment though, so I’ll have to move it a bit sometime.
No sound demo (yet)
I brought the guitar home only two days ago, so I have no demo for you yet. But I can’t wait to play it a lot! 🎸
